FEATURE OVERVIEW

Premium control in a professional handpiece

Every part of the A20 is built to give you a steadier, more predictable session.

9 depth settings

Dial depth in 0.25 mm steps — shallow near the eyes, deeper on scarred areas — without swapping tools.

Vertical oscillation

The needles move straight in and straight out at speed, so passes feel smoother and the skin takes less drag.

6 speed levels + display

Read your exact speed at a glance and match it to the area you're treating.

Charging dock

The A20 sits on its dock between treatments and charges over Type-C — a clean setup on any counter.

Fully cordless

Three to four hours per charge. A low-battery light warns you before you run out mid-session.

Premium Metal Handle

A sleek metal body gives A20 a more professional, durable feel in hand.

Honest answers

“Why not just get a cheaper pen?“ — and other honest questions

“Why is this 5× the price of the M8S?”

The A20 combines the AVOS motor, a 0–2.5 mm depth range, a metal body, and FDA clearance.

“I used a pen three times and saw nothing.”

Collagen remodeling takes 4–6 weeks. The A20 holds the depth you set, pass after pass.

“Cheap pens scratched my face.”

The Locked-Depth System combines the AVOS vertical stroke, a depth dial that holds its setting, and a three-lock cartridge connection.

“How do I know it’s the real Dr. Pen?”

Every unit ships sealed with a security label. Scan it and verify your exact pen before you break the seal.

“I’ve never heard of this site.”

We’re the team behind drpen.net, with 5,900+ verified reviews across our Dr. Pen stores.

“I’ve never microneedled. What if I mess up?”

Start at 0.25 mm with the depth-by-concern guide in the box. Nothing deeper until you’re ready.

The pen you'd pick for your own face

Estheticians already know the difference a stable motor and a secure cartridge lock make over a long day. The A20 gives you consistent, uniform passes, nine depth settings for zone-by-zone control, and a cordless handpiece that keeps your tray clean.

Buy genuine, keep your device documentation, and reorder the same cartridges you trust.

Licensing rules for microneedling vary by state. Check your state board before treating clients.

LOCKED-DEPTH SYSTEM

Exact depth isn’t a feature. It’s the whole point

Microneedling works when needles hit a set depth — and only that depth. The A20 locks it three ways: the AVOS motor drives needles straight in and straight out, the dial holds any depth from 0 to 2.5mm, and the 3-lock cartridge physically can’t wobble loose. That’s the Locked-Depth System.

What to expect

A realistic timeline, week by week

Microneedling is a slow build, not an overnight fix.

Week 1

Skin looks refreshed as it settles. The surface reset, not the real work yet.

Week 4

Texture starts to even out. Most people notice makeup sits better and stops settling into lines by lunchtime.

Week 12

Collagen turnover shows up: smoother tone, softer scar edges, the kind of change people ask about.

Month 6+

With a steady routine, the change holds. Consistency pays off.

How to Use

1. Cleanse twice — oil-based first, gentle foam second.

2. Inspect the sealed cartridge, click it in until the 3-lock seats, test-fire away from skin.

3. Slip on a protective sleeve — one per session.

4. Set depth 0.25mm, speed level 1–2 for your first session.

5. Apply HA serum to one zone at a time.

6. Glide in overlapping passes — light pressure, 2–3 per zone.

7. Eject the cartridge into a sharps-safe container; sanitize the handpiece.

8. Calm it down: cool serum or the ice roller, nothing else tonight.

FAQ

Before you buy

Full FAQ

Does the A20 hurt?

At 0.25–0.5 mm, most people feel vibration, not pain. Deeper settings are professional territory — that’s what the included Zensa numbing cream in the Pro Kit is for. You control the depth across the full 0–2.5 mm dial.

What is the A20 actually cleared for?

The A20 holds FDA 510(k) clearance as a Class II medical device for the treatment of facial acne scars in adults 22+. See the clearance details →

How is this different from a cheaper Dr. Pen?

The A20 is the flagship: the AVOS motor, a 0–2.5 mm depth dial, a metal body, the 3-lock cartridge system, and FDA clearance. The standard line is a great start — the A20 is the one you don’t upgrade from.

How do I know it’s genuine?

Every A20 ships sealed with a security label. Scan it and verify your exact unit on our Verify page — before you even break the seal. We’re the official US distributor; the documents are public. Verify yours →

Is there downtime?

Expect redness for 24–48 hours at typical depths — most users do evening sessions and wake up presentable. Deeper professional protocols need longer recovery; the depth guide covers it honestly.

Will it pay for itself?

A single clinic microneedling session runs $200–$700 in the US. The A20 with a year of cartridges costs less than two visits. Professionals: two to three client sessions cover the pen.

What does a session actually cost me?

One cartridge = one session, and a 10-pack is $79 — that’s $7.90 per session. Your free included pack covers roughly the first year at home. Compare that to $300 per clinic visit and the math does the selling. Cartridge pricing →

What if my A20 stops working?

Then we replace it. 3-year warranty on defects under normal use — email us, we handle it. That’s two years longer than most sellers offer.

Shipping and returns?

Free 2–5 day UPS from our Indianapolis warehouse; order by 11AM ET and it ships today. Unused and sealed? 60 days to return for a full refund. Full conditions — no surprises — are here: Shipping & Returns →

Who should not use it?

Skip microneedling if you’re pregnant, have active acne breakouts, open wounds, or an active skin infection in the treatment area, a history of keloid scarring, or you’ve taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last 6 months. Unsure about your situation? Ask your dermatologist first — the pen will wait.
